Knitwear is familiar to the people of Gaza. In winter, women often use thier needles to patiently bring to life the sweaters that will keep their families warm: knitting becomes a medium to express their love and care.

For the making of their knitting collection, Khitan‘s designers were inspired by something they know deeply: the sea.

The shape and the rhythm of the waves, the beaches and their seashells, algae and all living things that inhabit this ecosystem, the sea during wintertime: all these elements, only apparently obvious, have become a starting point to reimagine knitting and associate it to an unprecedented series of contemporary outfits.

Strongly shaped, MAWJ outlines the silhouette through a graphic trait that makes use of asymmetries and flared volumes to reinforce its impact. As for the case of HAYAT, different techniques, both artisanal and industrial, become a response to unavailability of materials.

Once again, creativity becomes a filter for looking at one‘s experience from a different perspective, and to find solutions where it was not possible to see them.
