Khitan is a network of fashion accelerators based in Jenin and Gaza, Palestine.
It promotes innovation in the textile industry and supports designers and entrepreneurs to develop their creations and production.
Enhances competitiveness through skills building initiatives aimed at offering advanced trainings to local players, including students, established designers, and SME’s.
Through its facilities, it encourages a hands-on approach by providing space and equipment for design, prototyping, and production, and offers a considerate environment for research and positive and constructive discussion.
Works as an incubator for upgrading the efficiency of existing SMEs and establishing new businesses and start-ups. Thanks to its extended network of professionals and evangelists, it provides bespoke management consulting and technical assistance for projects implementation within the garment industry. Furthermore, it promotes linkages and synergies among different creative industries as a means to stimulate
cross-sector innovation and economic growth.
Supports its beneficiaries through market access initiatives that encourage market linkages on the regional and international scale, and it enhances the visibility of the Palestinian fashion ecosystem through the organization of showcases, tradeshows, and business missions.
Brings together the initiatives of the public and private sectors and acts as a National Industry Hub for textile production for other Palestinian areas, such as Bethlehem, Hebron, and Gaza.
Is actively engaged in sustaining students’ potential and in promoting youth employment and gender equality in the fashion world.
Each UNIDO Creative Fashion Design Center is equipped with:
Sewing Machines Room
Fully equipped sewing workstations.
Pattern Making Room
The space is equipped with cutting tables, mannequins, cutting tools, fabrics, sewing supplies, and steam irons to allow fine sample making.
Computer Room
Workstations are equipped with CAD/CAM and graphic design software, while a 6 colours CMYK digital fabric printer offers the chance to experiment new designs and graphic patterns.
Library
Equipped with a projector and a LCD screen, together with selected reference books on different fields of fashion design history and pattern making, this area can also be used as a meeting room.
